Alex Mckechnie is a performer and music educator in Vancouver. He received his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Capilano College and his Bachelor of Education from UBC .  Alex has also attended the Drummer’s Collective in New York where he studied with Ian Froman, Kim Plainfield, Frank Katz and Memo Acevedo.

Alex is an active member of Vancouver's music community working with different bands as a sideman and as a leader.

Alex is the author of Styles and Indpendence for the Developing Drummer.
